spa care from the Australian dreamtime

Tapping into ancient indigenous plant wisdom & holistic healing modalities delivers a luxury spa concept with spirit
Exclusive to the world’s most luxurious spas, Li’Tya spa care accesses the potency of the Australian earth and the wisdom of its ancient traditions to deliver exquisitely pure spa treatments to harmonize, energize and beautify the body from within to out.

Inspired by the superbly clarifying, restorative and invigorating properties of Australia’s native earth resources, Li’Tya incorporates indigenous plant know-how with the principles of herbalism, aromatherapy, sound and color therapy to deliver a wonderfully unique range of sensory treatments with powerful therapeutic effects.

In honor of the name bestowed upon our company by an Australian Aboriginal tribal elder (Li’Tya, pronounced “Li-dee-a” meaning of the earth), all Li’Tya products and methods take a deeply respectful and reciprocal approach to the workings of nature and the people who have shared their ancient wisdom with us.

Every Li’Tya product is 98.5% naturally based and highly concentrated. Free from artificial fragrances, petroleum/mineral oils, alcohol, traditional cosmetic bulking agents and animal bi-products (apart from natural beeswax and native stringy bark honey), we use only the finest organically harvested native ingredients, enriched with potent essential oils and the highest quality botanical bases.

To preserve the powerfully rejuvenating “life-force” and purity of the precious native ingredients used in our products, we distill many of these ingredients ourselves fresh “from the farms” to guarantee they are free from chemicals, pesticides and additives.

And to further heighten the physically and spiritually nourishing properties of these select native ingredients, traditional indigenous application methods are also incorporated into all our Li’Tya spa treatments combined with the powerfully restorative properties of rhythmic/chakra/ pressure-point massage, aromatherapy, colour, fire, wood and water therapy.

Using mineral rich peat from deep within Tasmanian soil, soothing natural earth clays and ochre’s, detoxifying desert salts from ancient sea beds, and native herbs, nuts, berries and 100% pure essential oils harvested with care from Australia’s medicinal bush lands, our unique in-spa treatments (each baring its own traditional Aboriginal name) include; facial, massage, mud wrap, water exfoliation, hand, feet and all-in-one luxury treatments.

The Li’Tya spa care experience and product range was first launched in 1997, and today is available in more than 35 elite spas across the globe including the USA, ASIA, UK and Australia.

Harnessing the earths healing elements to provide the finest spa treatments.
Aboriginal culture recognizes the significance of the elements in terms of their physical, emotional, spiritual and environmental aspects to ourselves.
The Li’Tya spa experience aims to bring balance between these elements by combining a range of sensory therapies selected for their efficiency in purifying, nourishing and harmonizing the body as a whole.

EARTH Largely understood as the centre of grounding, according to Aboriginal wisdom, the earth is our mother and we are in turn her custodians. To reconnect and remind us of the healing and balancing energy this vital element can bring, Li’Tya treatments use ancient peat, earth clays and desert salts directly onto the skin to restore nutrients, draw out toxins and nuture the body in the warmth of the earth’s skin.

WATER Integrating the powers of water, a sacred elemental force renown for its healing, cleansing, purifying and emotionally restorative properties, Li’Tya’s treatments use this tranquil force to control the prescribed potency of our products and in a variety of physical applications to unblock the body’s energy fields (hydrotherapy) or wash away tension and awaken vitality (our signature warm water massage Yanko Jindalee).

AIR Infusing the air with 100 percent pure essential oils is without exception one of the most pleasurable ways to drift into a realm of relaxation and serenity. However, whether administered by inhalation or applied through the skin, they also play a vital role in our body’s circulatory function by bringing oxygen and nutrients to the tissues while assisting in the disposal of waste products produced by cell metabolism. The extensive range of both native and traditional pure aromatherapy oils used in all our product formulations and treatments are therefore carefully chosen for their therapeutic benefits on the skin and mind.

FIRE The art of Fire therapy has been long lost on western cultures, however to Indigenous Australians, this traditional ritual is still used today in a variety ways. With permission from Aboriginal elders, Li’Tya introduces every client to the cleansing and purifying energy of this ancient ritual with the burning of traditional aboriginal smudge blends at the start of every treatment. Designed to disconnect the client from the outside world, and bring her/him into the present to focus on their treatment time, this sacred ceremony calls upon the healing energy of the earth to enter the treatment space.

WOOD Traditional Coolamon wood containers bring the last of the earth’s elements to the Li’Tya spa care experience. Often decorated with designs imprinted by burning lengths of wire with Dreamtime stories, these containers are used to hold select native dry ingredients and in our Kodo rhythmic body massage treatment provide a unique feel and stimulus to the skin realigning body balance and tone.

about the Aboriginal dreamtime

For more than 40,000 years, the Indigenous Aboriginal people of Australia have held the world’s oldest continuous living tradition of scared knowledge, known as the Dreamtime. It is from this Dreamtime, that all aspects of Aboriginal life, context and meaning is derived, including an innate wisdom of the relationship between humankind and natures precious resources, and a unique view of the workings of the physical world and its spiritual dimensions.

According to this ”natural” law, everybody, everything, all time and space is intimately linked to the sacred seed of creation, from which everything has grown and continues to grow. Every thought, footprint, gust of wind, plant or animal that lives, has lived or is yet to live, is seen to impart its own vibration upon the earth, which in turn resounds across all eternity as part of the ongoing creation of the world.

Living in harmony with this understanding, Aboriginal Australians view their lives here as custodians of the physical and spiritual dimensions of this earth. Their philosophy is to therefore tread lightly and with the greatest of respect. For the fruition of the dreaming that carries the potential of creative perfection, is ultimately determined by the unseen vibration of all that is around it.

It is in honor of this wisdom, that tribal elders and members of Australia’s Indigenous community have willingly shared with Li’Tya their intimate knowledge of native plants, healing modalities and their deeply respectful and reciprocal approach to the workings of nature.

In drawing upon the ancient powers of the earth’s oldest continent it is with the purest intentions, that the spiritual qualities of these essential materials are invited to come alive. For using native Australian ingredients not only brings a unique and enriching dimension to an industry already focused on holistic healing principles. It also creates an opportunity to generate greater awareness of the value of our earth and the beauty of the people that have learnt from it and lived with it for thousands of years. Like us, you are sure to be convinced, there is much we can learn, receive, be thankful for and give back, to these beautiful people so deeply connected to the essence and energy locked within our great southern land.

The four tenets of the Ya-idt'midtung people - An aboriginal spiritual perspective
Aboriginal Australians have a unique view or way of seeing the world. There are four components to it, often referred to as the four basic tenets, that are akin to a good foundation on how to conduct one’s life. It is a holistic approach that considers the entirety of being in terms of one’s spiritual health and wellbeing, one’s environmental health and wellbeing, and ones social health and wellbeing in terms of mental and physical relationships with the world

Aildt (pronounced - ‘ail-t’) – EVERYTHING IS ONE -

The first and most important tenet is that everything and every person are all inextricably linked as part of one creative force, universal soul, or vitality, known as Aildt.
As all thoughts, words, actions, animate and inanimate objects impart their own energy / vibration upon the earth to create the ongoing creation of the world, everything, tangible and intangible, is part of this “One”.
So if a person brings harm to another person or thing in any way at all, then that person is also hurting themselves, their life, and all that is around them right down to a blade of grass.
Everything we do matters, all things matter, and all is therefore affected by the unseen vibrations of all that is around it. To live in harmony with this view, we must therefore tread lightly and with the greatest of respect.

Adtomon (pronounced ‘ad-omon) ’- TRUTH IS THE PATH -

The second tenet, called Adtomon, is that every person must live their truth and has a right to be what their truth is.
By living in harmony with our own truth, ourselves, and being true to the universe and true to each other, respecting the interconnectedness that we are all “One”, we find the true path of nature, secure health and well being .
When one fails to live their own truth ie fails to observe Adtomon, illness and ‘dis-ease’ occurs.

Dtwongdtyen (pronounced ‘dt-won-tienne’) - A VARIED PERSPECTIVE IS THE KEY TO PERCEPTION -

Dtondtyen, the third tenet, means to look at things from as many different points of view, as many different perspectives as we can.
While your truth and my truth are not the same, each persons truth is equally valid.
Therefore it is important to respect that someone else’s truth is as valid as your own, as acceptance of varied perspectives is the key to perception.

Linj’dta (pronounced ‘linj-ta’) - NOW IS THE MOMENT OF YOUR BEING-

The fourth component, called Linj’dta , concerns the importance of the present, of living NOW in this moment in time, in this moment of your being, as this is where the energy is.
Being distracted from the present by the future or past is viewed as pointless as it takes energy from today, can create states of anxiety, and separates our minds from our physical being of where we actually are, thus cheating us of our lives right now.
We must focus on only what is now, the future takes care of itself.
