Collaboration with the community is a fundamental, underlining principle of Peninsula Hot Springs’ brand promise, ‘connect with your pure nature’. We measure and define our success as a major health and wellness destination by the opportunities we create for people to connect with the environment, the community, each other and themselves.
Our people are our most valuable asset who bring skills and an outstanding level of care for our guests. With an organisational team of over 300 employees, we work together towards creating an inclusive, innovative, loving and respectful environment.
We enhance the business community and economy through offering local partnerships and supplier arrangements and creating employment opportunities.
We know that so many people and organisations work hard in our community to make a difference, and fundraising is a necessary means to support your organisational operations. If you’re a local community group, charity, not-for-profit organisation, sports team or school who would like our support, we’d love to hear from you.
Wellness and environmental education should start early. We open our doors to work with local schools, tertiary institutes and universities to make a connection through research and learning opportunities. We welcome research and benchmark studies and look forward to sharing and applying new knowledge. Some of the studies we have supported, including one conducted by RMIT University, have enhanced our understanding of mental health and wellbeing.
We are continually evolving our connections with the environment, our community and with organisations to contribute meaningfully to make a difference. This is why we support sporting clubs on the Mornington Peninsula. We donate a number of offerings to clubs to utilise as player prizes or fundraising options throughout the year. If you would like to learn more about sponsorship opportunities, please submit a sponsorship enquiry.
We understand how important accessibility is for people with mobility needs. There are recognised health benefits associated with bathing in geothermal water, and we strive to ensure that all guests with physical disabilities, arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions can access our venue with ease. We have been working with designers to include ambulant pools at Peninsula Hot Springs in the near future. Our facility map may help you better plan your visit with us.
Enhancing collective mental and physical wellbeing is a key when we are working on activities within the community. Many of our initiatives focus on raising awareness and funds to support mental and physical health issues as well as providing a possible relief to individual customers who live with challenging ill-health conditions related to these issues. Here are some of the regular activities which we deliver in an attempt to achieve our missions.
During the cold winter months, Peninsula Hot Springs offers a free entry to the Bath House when a guest brings along a friend who is experiencing mental health challenges. The purpose of this campaign is to raise awareness of mental wellbeing and to ease some of the stress our customers may be experiencing.
During Seniors Week in early October, our customers enjoy special offers at Peninsula Hot Springs, including Warm Water Exercise classes (which are complimentary with Bath House entry) and a 30-minute treatment at a special discounted price. 50% from every booking of this special treatment goes to our charity partner, Musculoskeletal Australia.
World Federation for Mental Health promotes the 10th October (1010.org) as World Mental Health Day, an initiative that promotes education, awareness and advocacy on mental health. Peninsula Hot Springs joins our partner, Mental Health Australia, in supporting this initiative by encouraging our community to submit a promise on how you can contribute to help reduce stigma around mental illness, making way for more people to seek help and support.
October 2018 saw Peninsula Hot Springs host a charity cycling event to raise funds and create awareness for mental health issues. The inaugural team of 19 riders collectively raised over $18,000, which will aid Mentis Assist in providing much-needed specialist support and resources to more people who live with challenging mental health struggles. This event is run in conjunction with our charity partner and event beneficiary Mentis Assist and the assistance of a professional cycling event management company. Proven to be successful in 2018, the charity cycling event will be held again in 2019.
Based on guidelines provided by Musculoskeletal Australia, Peninsula Hot Springs has created a set of water-proof exercise cards that provide routine exercise movements for our guests to practice in our hot spring pools. These exercises are designed to ease and improve the symptoms of many musculoskeletal conditions, as well as body and mind-related stress. These cards are available for use by Bath House guests at any time, and assistance from our pool attendants is always available if required.
