The four-day, three-night experience will include a selection of daily activities from Pilates, forest bathing and goal-setting workshops to lying in the natural geothermal pools and enjoying the iconic river valley views.
The retreat is designed to equip you with powerful tools for your own wellness practice. Steph Prem will motivate you with Pilates classes while nutrition specialist Kate Save (of Be Fit Food) will guide you through an energy-balancing food workshop and you will enjoy health-focused foods throughout each day.

Former winter Olympian Steph Prem is fast becoming one of Australia’s leading experts and advocates for women’s health and fitness. Known as the Pilates ‘It Girl’ after starting the PP method, as a trainer to the stars in her studio in South Yarra (Studio PP) and for her witty and raw motivational speeches. In an era where #fitspo reigns supreme Steph is a refreshing, genuine and educated voice.
Steph was the only female to represent Australia in snowboard cross at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Following the games Steph suffered a horrific career-ending accident that took her away from professional sports and saw her jump wholeheartedly into an enduring health and wellness journey. During her recovery, along with her weekly rehab and Pilates sessions, Steph benefited from bathing at Peninsula Hot Springs. She has also worked with us to develop a series of custom Pilates and stretching DVDs.
Kate is the co-founder of Be Fit Food, a healthy meal delivery program, and has been featured in the 2017 Channel 10 series of Shark Tank. She holds a double degree in Nutrition/Dietetics and Exercise Science from Deakin University, as well as an Advanced Diploma in Diabetes Education and a Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology.
With more Australians taking care of themselves from the inside out, Kate has become one of Australia’s leading experts in nutrition and dietetics within the health and wellness industry. She is committed to delivering credible health and wellness advice based on the latest scientific research and industry best practices. As a working mother, she also understands the everyday pressures faced by individuals and families trying to find a healthy balance.
Matt’s first connection with Peninsula Hot Springs was meeting our Co-Founder Charles Davidson and his family while walking the Lurujarri Heritage Trail in Broome, Western Australia. Nine days immersed in the bold landscapes of the Kimberley with local Aboriginal people was a life-changing experience. Years later this inspired Matt to pursue a career in ecotourism, working with the Tasmanian Walking Company as Tour Guide on the Bay of Fires Lodge Walk and as the Experience Manager for Cradle Mountain Huts Walk.
After consulting as a landscape architect for many years, Matt joined Peninsula Hot Springs full-time in January and is currently developing an exciting new Wellness program; including Mind Body classes, Guided bathing workshops, Cultural walks and much more. During the retreat Matt will lead guests on Forest Bathing and hiking experiences in the breathtaking surrounds of Maruia.
Escape to the South Island of New Zealand into the tranquil Lewis Pass National Reserve to find Maruia Hot Springs. Being in the middle of a National Reserve has many benefits. The drive to the location showcases the true New Zealand landscape.
Arrive and be surrounded by mountain alps, forest, waterfalls and look out over the Maruia River. If you are coming in the middle of winter don’t be surprised if you get a day of snow (this is a magical experience as you can sit in the middle of the hot springs, nice and cosy while surrounded with a fresh layer of snow)
