Celebrate International Day of Yoga this Winter Solstice at Peninsula Hot Springs

Peninsula Hot Springs invites you to celebrate International Day of Yoga with us next Monday 21 June. Discover a sense of oneness with yourself, the world and with nature whilst you complete your yoga practice on this day.

Falling on the winter solstice, International Day of Yoga is a time for both completion and new beginnings as the day is believed to hold powerful energy for regeneration, renewal and self-reflection.

In the spirit of hope and health and with respect for all cultures, global practices and traditions, we invite you to join our community yoga classes which will run throughout the day.

Sessions available on the day are suitable for all levels including beginners and classes will be held in geothermal hot springs and our purpose-built wellness studio.

The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga. Yoga cultivates a holistic approach to health and wellbeing and offers a range of many different techniques, including postures and movement, breath awareness, relaxation and concentration, self-inquiry and meditation.

why we love INternational day of yoga

It’s inclusive

People of all age groups, religions, nationalities and social backgrounds can celebrate, because yoga is accessible to all. With many different styles of yoga practices, it’s possible for anyone to start and experience the benefits practicing yoga can bring. Experience and fitness levels don’t matter, there are modifications for every yoga pose and beginner classes in every style.

Yoga helps you manage stress

Life can be stressful sometimes, and it can take its toll on our physical bodies. If you have back pain or muscular tension, sleeping problems or headaches, a regular yoga practice can help to alleviate discomfort. Yoga has been found to also create mental clarity, calmness and can help to relieve chronic stress. Yoga will activate the parasympathetic nervous system, the calming rest and digest response, which is the opposite of the stressed out ‘fight or flight’ response.

Practicing yoga is healthy

Studies have shown that yoga helps improve posture, balance, coordination, balance immunity, build resilience and enhance your strength. It can help with weight reduction, maintaining a balanced metabolism and increases flexibility. Research has also found that by regularly practicing yoga along with breath work and meditation not only preserves brain function but can improve it.

The essence of Yoga is union

Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. At its highest level, yoga refers to the union of the individual soul with the universal soul, and the various disciplines of yoga each offer a different pathway to this union.
