Allara and Brent Watkins, come together to incorporate their usually solo styles forming a soul healing resonance for anyone who witnesses. Both artists reside on Wurundjeri Country in the Kulin Nation. Allara is a Yorta Yorta, musician who plays double bass, synth and clap sticks utilising a loop station. Brent is a Gunai Kurni man from south-eastern Victoria, with Noongar Yamatji ancestry from WA. He is one of the most exquisite didgeridoo players in so-called Victoria and a dancer of both hip hop and traditional styles. Brent tells a story of the indigenous life through his dance and didgeridoo playing, his performances incorporate the history of the culture, the genocide that occurred and the fight that continues within the culture today. Coupled up, the double bass, modern in comparison to the country’s oldest Aboriginal instrument, brings sense of serenity, peace, harmony, and storytelling of the oldest culture alive. This deeply engaging duo unfurls a journey of culture, protection of country and honouring of spirit.
When booking, be sure to select the date of performance.
