Global Wellness Day 2016

The fundamental purpose of Global Wellness day is to make us aware of the value of our lives.

Even if it’s just for one day of the year, to make us stop and think, to get away from the stress and bad habits, and thereby find peace with ourselves.

With the slogan “One day can change your whole life,” we celebrate Global Wellness Day on the second Saturday of June every year as an international day dedicated to living well. Global Wellness Day is an entirely not-for-profit day, a social project created by volunteers dedicated to living well. The purpose of Global Wellness Day is to ask the question, even if for just one day, “How can I live a healthier and better life?”, to direct the thoughts of both individuals and society towards “living well” and to raise awareness.

First celebrated in 2012, Global Wellness Day was established in Turkey as the “first” day dedicated to living well, and has now been accepted world-wide, and it is officially celebrated in 73 countries in 2015, reflecting its success..

Peninsula Hot Springs will be participating in Global Wellness Day by hosting complimentary activities throughout the day.

Road to recovery with Steph Prem

Meet Steph Prem, an ex-Olympian who severely injured her back in 2010 at the (snowboarding) World Cup Finals in Italy.

“I am a self-confessed winter and health-aholic! Growing up in Melbourne and living with a severe case of chronic enthusiasm, my zest and passion for life inspired me to dream big and pursue my love of professional winter sports.

Following my Winter Olympic debut in 2010, I broke my back in a horrific snowboarding accident (ouch!) which resulted in 5 broken ribs, 2 compressed discs, an L5 fracture, a dislocated hip, severe spinal whiplash and bone bruising.

My get-back-on-the-snow-ASAP mentality only created further setbacks and halted my recovery. However, it was by hitting rock bottom that I realised that health and fitness is a holistic process that must start from within. Rest and recovery are just as important as the action. I swear by Acupuncture, myotherapy, Gravity salt baths and or bathing at Peninsula Hot Springs to aid in my recovery and keep me fit physically and mentally.” Steph Prem
