Ride for Relief

February 2023 | Hosted by Peninsula Hot Springs

6-day tour: 20 - 26 February, 2023
1-day ride : 26 February, 2023

Peninsula Hot Springs, along with community partner Mentis Assist, is hosting the 5th annual Ride for Relief, a charity cycling event to build connection and promote mental health awareness, which is introducing the benefits of physical activity and hot springs bathing.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a severe detrimental impact on the mental health of millions of people. As a result, more people are at an increased risk of being diagnosed with anxiety or depression when we already were facing a fact that 1 in 2 Australian adults experience a mental disorder during their lifetime.

It has never been more important that we local organisations and community members come together to support those living with mental health issues.

the cause

Funds raised from this event will be donated to our charity partner Mentis Assist to promote accessible mental health and physical wellbeing opportunities that work to build strong and resilient individuals and communities.

a unique event

Ride for Relief is a boutique event that allows a small number of participants riding and socialising together on the event day(s). This creates an intimate team environment where discussions of mental health and personal stories can be shared.

the journey

Connect Sport Australia will assist us at each stage of the 6-day tour and 1-day ride. Dedicated volunteer members are assisting every peloton throughout the event ensuring the safety and the best condition of the riders.

mentis assist

Mentis Assist is a Mornington Peninsula based not-for-profit mental health organisation that provides specialised support for people living with a diagnosed mental illness. With the funds raised through this significant event, Mentis Assist will be able to establish a specialist program which will highlight the efforts of Ride for Relief. The funds will allow them to employ experienced staff who will deliver needed services, and to purchase additional equipment to help their clients achieve their personal wellbeing goals and reconnect with their loved ones and the community, so that they can live their best life.

partnership opportunities 2023

We are pleased to invite partnership opportunities for Ride for Relief 2023.

The initial event in 2018, which had 18 participants in one peloton and no partner, raised over $18,000. Building on the success of Ride for Relief, in 2021 (which was postponed to March 2022 due to COVID-19 lockdowns) it introduced an epic 6-day tour which traversed over 800km from Mallacoota back to the Mornington Peninsula in addition to the original 1-day ride. It had over 60 registrations, and was very fortunately supported by 19 local and national businesses as event partners, who enabled us to accomplish our mission – fundraising over $150,000 and raising significant awareness on mental health challenges.

Learning from delivering the 4th event this year, we are more dedicated to tailoring partnership packages to match your organisation’s community engagement objectives.

We thank you for your consideration to take this opportunity to provide the most needed support in our society.
