how our wellness hosts would spend a day at Peninsula Hot Springs

Written by Grace

more than anyone else at Peninsula Hot Springs, our wellness hosts live, breathe and embody wellbeing

When they’re not leading activities such as our Fire & Ice workshop or Body Clay ritual, our hosts immerse themselves in the wide array of wellness experiences available at our facility. Here’s how one wellness host suggests spending a day at the springs.

Arrive and explore

  • Check in before 9am to take advantage of Earlybird bathing and make the most of the crispness of morning. Mornings are a beautiful time to bathe and watch the steam rise from the pools.
  • Head up to Hilltop pool – if it’s early enough, this is a great spot to witness the sun rise over the hills. Then, work your way down the Bathing Gully, spending 10 to 15 minutes relaxing in whichever pools call to you.
  • Linger at the Turkish Hammam area and experience a self-guided hot and cold immersion by relaxing in the steam of the Hamman sauna, then rinsing in the geothermal showers and taking a refreshing dip in the cold plunge pool. You will also find a traditional sauna in this area.

Refresh and refuel

  • Relax in the Amphitheatre Café with a refreshing fresh juice or enjoy a coffee, tea or chai with a muffin.
  • Take a mindful stroll, starting at the Reflexology Walk to massage the pressure points on your feet, and then meander along the lake to our Hydrojet pool for a back, shoulder and lower leg massage.
  • Enjoy a rejuvenating self-guided hot and cold contrast session in our Fire and Ice area, where you can oscillate between two large saunas (one wet, one dry), massaging showers, a large cool pool and an Ice Cave. If you want to learn more about the full benefits and experience the bracing ice plunge, you can book a guided workshop with our Wellness Host here.

Unwind

  • Following your hot and cold contrast experience, relax in our Watsu pool for 10 to 15 minutes to regulate your body temperature and enjoy massaging hydrojets.
  • Wander through the Amphitheatre taking a dip in the pools overlooking the water – each one differs slightly in temperature and view.
  • Take a lunch break in our Amphitheatre Café. Here you can select from a variety of options including delicious healthy salads, wraps, nourishing hot meals, wood-fired pizzas and various sweet treats, plus hot and cold drinks.

Wander and experience

  • Take a walk through our expansive Food Bowl, which features an abundance of produce and flowers. Spend some time practising mindfulness in the Sensory Garden. Then make yourself comfortable on the deck chairs or bean bags under the sheoak trees, or luxuriate in the Glasshouse or on the hammocks near Clay Ridge.
  • Head towards the ‘beach’ area and use our bespoke, nature-inspired gym equipment for a 10 to 15-minute outdoor workout. Then move into the darkness of our Sound Dome for a multi-sensory experience to rest the body and entrance the mind.
  • To finish your day, walk to Clay RIde and rinse off in our outdoor geothermal massaging showers. Let your skin absorb all of the natural minerals found in the pure water that flows from these showers, allowing any remaining tension to melt away. Depending on the time, you might wish to book a Body Clay ritual led by a Wellness Host.
  • Before you leave our wellbeing oasis, find a spot to pause and take a few slow, mindful breaths, appreciating the native greenery that surrounds you.
